Professor Louie & The Crowmatix remember Conductor/Composer Robert Ian Winstin

Robert Ian Winstin was born June 6, 1959 and died June 26, 2010. He attended Chicago Musical College and Julliard studying composition. An accomplished pianist, Robert also conducted and played all the stringed instruments.

An Award winning Composer-Conductor & Pianist, he began his musical studies at the age of five and completed his first serious compositions by the age of eight.

Robert Ian Winstin has been awarded numerous prizes and honors for his works – too many to mention including several ASCAP Awards.

He has written more than 200 works, including 5 Symphonies, 2 piano concerti, a cello concerto, three violin concerti and many chamber and solo instrumental works. He is also the author of two books.

His music has been performed throughout the world by Ensembles and Philharmonics and most recently he was the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Millennium Symphony, Principal Conductor of the Kiev Philharmonic and Musical Director & Principal Conductor of the Virginia Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Robert was passionate about recording the works of living composers.
He is the Conductor of the Masterworks of the New Era and Made in the Americas Series as well as numerous recordings of outstanding contemporary composers. It was his work with young musicians that brought him the most joy.

Professor Louie & The Crowmatix worked with Robert Ian Winstin on many musical projects including recording their International Award Winning song Melody of Peace with the Prague Symphony in the Czech Republic and this Grammy nominated song is on the new CD by Professor Louie & The Crowmatix Whispering Pines.

Robert Ian Winstin commissioned Professor Louie & The Crowmatix to write a musical score to the silent film classic LE VOYAGE DANS LA LUNE ( A TRIP TO THE MOON) by Georges Melies - the DVD on ERM Media.

Professor Louie & The Crowmatix performed many concerts with
Robert Ian Winstin at the helm and enjoyed working together with him on all types of musical projects especially
performing their original compositions with the Virginia Youth Symphony at the New Colony Theater in Virginia.

Robert is fondly remembered and deeply missed by the musical community around the world.

Thanks for everything you've done for the kids down here. Robert was a dynamic composer, and friend to me also. We miss him very much, but he still seems to be living in each and every one who ever really knew him. I regret not being able to spend more time with him than I did, but feel blessed with the time I had in sharing what he loved the most. Music.

It has been 4 years and Robert's loss is still difficult. The potential his presence created in this area was unbelievable. That lost opportunity along with the brother I never had has left its mark. I treasure my time with him for all time.
